The original Art Deco table was designed in 1941 by the cabinet maker and designer Erik Johansson and made by the firm Reiners in Mjölby, a small town in the south of Sweden. We designed and made this particular table in burr ash and black lacquer for the London house of the rock star Freddie Mercury in 1989. Mercury, who had a degree in art and graphic design from Ealing Art College, was a keen collector of antiques and art and was client of ours over many years. He was so pleased with this table that he commissioned us to make a second table for his apartment in Montreux in Switzerland. The only difference with that table was that the black spheres were decorated with silver stars.

Inspired by the design of the coffee table we have also made pairs of side tables based on a design from 1923 by the French designer Pierre Legrain (1888-1929). We made them in blond birch with a black lacquered sphere, but we have also made a pair in black lacquer with the sphere covered in white gold-leaf

Beautiful furniture, really an example of excellent bespoke design! The honeyed wood contrasts perfectly with the black balls and the art deco design is stylish and really a centre piece in any home. Would be very interesting to see the sphere covered in the gold leaf!

What a gorgeous design! Working with Jarrimber, I always like to see people pushing the boundaries of traditional design, this is no exception! Wouldn’t mind owning one myself!

I have seen many tables and this one fix for coffee. And it also new style for lover of coffee. Mostly restaurant and hotels keep it like the stylish table and furniture and public also want the new look for dinner and drinks.
